In Mody, practically middle of the dessert, I met the most colorful characters, whom throughout my 4 years of engineering I not only came to respect but love from the veriest core of my heart. From Films to Physics, from dreaming up love stories to dreading the vivas, we did every possible thing that an active pathologically insane and congentially brilliant-education oppressed mind- could ever dream of. Admist this princessly jail I once dreamt of seeing all the brilliant beauty of Rajasthan-which i unfortunately in my entire life could never do!!.
It is important to give the jist of my past life to understand why this trip meant so much more to me. after 4 years of careful planning and dreaming and scheming and sketching out the most fantastic trips imaginable, its a rush when suddenly even one of them comes to a brink of becoming a reality.
of all the weird things to do on a trip me and my friend(Ojie) tried to weave a woollen dress for my youngest niece!!! Hogging and weaving our way across 200 miles out of Jaips, I found my self in the most rustic and untouched rural setting. our hosts actually cooked food on mud stoves!!!It was really embarrasing when seeing my utter enthusiasm towards their way of living they actually mistook me(a hardened marwari) for an angreez!
Till then the excursion was nothing out of the ordinary... the fun began when we were deemed to ride open jeep on patchy rural roads of rajasthan taking us literally in middle of ghor jungle
panthers bears and everything.
things started looking a bit poetic from then onwards... the road seemed like cloth of superfine woven by the masters of yore, there were patches, embossing, engraving and even texturing.
the flight of geese above us seemed like a thumbs up from the heaven, as if the gods them selves were wishing us V for Victory.
the sinister shapes in clouds promised night full of fun and suspense.
(yeah this is wat happenes when 2 over imaginative greenhorns ride in heart of the dessert)
Oh yeah! about the place... needless to say it was magical and everything and more than i ever imagined a place to be. we found the witch's lair, the fairy's haunt, the treee of light, people of wisdom and the protectors of the secret world... all in 36 hrs
I am now waiting for my Mr. Barry(Ojie) to take me on another fantastic vactaion to the neverland
